Málaga Airport TransfersMálaga Costa Del Sol Airport is located relatively close to Málaga city centre and boasts quite a few transport links to Málaga as well as other parts of the Costa del Sol. It serves as the main airport of the Costa del Sol so you will find many fellow travellers heading to different parts of coast rather than Málaga city itself (most notably Marbella, which lies west of Málaga).
Getting from the airport to the city centreThe two main ways to get to the city centre are by bus or by train. The bus simply called "A" is a convenient bus running to the Alameda (the main street in Málaga). This journey takes around 30 minutes and costs €3. Tickets can be bought on the bus and change can be given - just make sure you do have smaller bills/change as the drivers may not be able to accept larger bills.
By train is actually cheaper - at €1.90 to Málaga city centre (the last stop) it is the cheapest train ticket from the airport in any city I have been to. Tickets can be purchased from the machines right in front of the gates at the train station. From the airport to Málaga Centre Mall is only 3 stops and 13 minutes, too. The trains come every 30 minutes and the train station is about a 10 minute walk from the airport. There is one final option to get into the city - via taxi. A taxi to the city will cost around €20. Our Airbnb host told us a taxi from the airport to our accommodation would cost around €30, as it was a wee way further on from the city centre. For us, I decided it would be cheaper just to get the train. Once we arrived at the central train station, we decided to get an Uber to our accommodation, which cost around €5. €5 + 2 x €1.90 train tickets was a lot less than paying €30 for a taxi, and didn't really take any longer than it would have either. It seems a bit of a faff but it was pretty easy and it meant we had an extra €20 we could spend on drinks or dinner! |
